written by Hana Rubinstejnova

The flexibility of muscle tissues, tension in any part of the body, the range of movement, the amount of oxygen in the blood as well as its fluidity, the clarity of the iris and eye white, flabby tissue around limbs or arms, excess fat stores or other types of imbalances in the body, all speak volumes about the health of the person with these issues.

What we so often associate with so called ‘aging’ is often simply a sign of deeper issues in the body which slowly, yet permanently deteriorate the whole structure. Soon or later this affects other parts or organs of the body. Then it will be time for last minute intervention before an emergency sets in. Health is not just an absence of a disease.

My definition of a healthy person is: one who feels younger than they look, without fixing anything with a plastic surgery; who has enough energy for the day and enough deep sleep to regain all necessary hormones and other body materials during the time of rest. These people eat only when they are truly hungry, rather than eating on the go or eating out of pleasure or to cover up emotional issues.

When the blood and heart rate are well balanced, people can endure physical exercise or a hike or whatever regular exercise is suitable for that individual, on a weekly basis. However, I believe that there is no need for exercise any more strenuous than regular walking 4-5 times a week, as long as one is rhythmically moving their limbs to the body’s rhythm, feeling all the muscles of the body working while doing this.

Providing that you eat healthy balanced meals when you feel hungry and drink enough fluids, eat a good supply of fresh fruits and vegetables you can keep and stay healthy as long as you like.

Persistence and a strong enough motivation are the most important factors in being healthy at any age.

written by Conrad Raw

Your mind is a valuable tool that most people don’t use to its fullest. If everyone used it to the maximum capability, there would be no more war, illness or anger. We simply access a small portion. This is not true of every civilization or person. Some use means to increase their awareness and access the supernatural powers of their mind. It proves that we all are capable.

Taoist of China had a background that acknowledged mysticism and control of the elements. Like many early civilizations, they practiced shamanism. Specific people of the village had the ability to communicate with nature.

In 2600 BC, even though these people were still relatively unsophisticated by our standards, the Yellow Emperor Huag-Di, used the power of natural herbs to create Chinese Medicine. He also became the highest deity two thousand years later when Taoism began.

Taoism contained the belief that if a common man pursued Tao, the eternal road or ideal of life, they could perform as Gods. They reached the higher levels by performing good deeds and quieting their minds to access the information of the universe. There is magic all around according to the Taoist.

People choose to live limited lives and those that perform miracles, also choose that way of life. For those that suffer from lack, in their health, finances, love or happiness, according to the Tao it is their choice. It is the words they feed their internal being. By quieting the mind, eliminating these internal conversations and replacing them with quiet focus on the higher mind, everyone is capable of performing magic in their lives.

The powers don’t come overnight but through years of study and discipline. It is a matter of letting go and letting the flow of the universe create the ideal conditions for the person to accomplish the goals. Much like Christianity and the mantra, “Let go and let God,” the belief system is similar. Just like quieting the mind and focusing on the belief that all matters are handled easily by God, the Tao believe the Universal power and the natural order of good comes to those that follow the training.

While some of the magic comes from magic and spells, much of the Tao or Dao power comes through meditative practice. The Taoist believes in four states of Dhyana and eight different levels of concentration. By attaining the highest levels of concentration, no information is unavailable or task that is impossible.

Just like the Taoists, those that practice Yoga at the highest levels also can create miracles while in the higher levels of concentration and meditative states. Some of the powers include distant viewing, healing and even the ability to fly. While most people will not have the lifetime of practice to focus on flying without an airplane, they can change their life through the meditative states.

Even though both Taoism and Yoga have a religious base, you don’t have to follow the religion to follow the meditative practices. In Yoga, it is a belief that those that have a pure mind focused on good find the transformation to the higher level a pleasure. Those who focus on evil, find it a living hell. The intent of the person and study of the principals help those that reach higher levels of consciousness to achieve this without experiencing negative forces. Anyone that uses a moral code aimed at goodness for all, and faithfully cleanses their mind of harmful thoughts should make safe passage to higher levels.

written by Hana Rubinstejnova

‘What’s the point to get up anyway?’

This is not the nicest state of mind to find ourselves in. The despair that falls over people without the sense of a higher purpose and meaning in their life can be debilitating.

If not attended to in time, it may lead to chronic depression, when the person doesn’t see any reason to carry on with life and may even attempt to take their life. Whether their attempt to leave this life is ‘successful’ or whether they survive is not so much a matter of their will, but more a matter of coincidence.

Depression is not a tool for blackmail

These are not the types of people, who would blackmail their loved ones by trying to dramatically and emotionally ‘take their lives’ to get more attention. Having no feeling of purpose is a very personal thing which is not aimed at hurting anyone else in the process. A person in this state simply feels the sheer emptiness of purpose in their life and sincerely believes that their life doesn’t matter to anyone anyway and so there is no point in carrying on living.

Bed Bound Days

The heaviness of responsibility for living every day without a higher sense of purpose and enjoyment of life just becomes too much to carry around, if not shaken off in time. If you know anyone who has been through depression, you may know that they spend lot of time in bed. This is not due to tiredness as such, because their body is fully functional and may have no signs of disease or illness.

They are bed-bound due to the fact that their inner voice has taken over their motivation and excitement for living. They open their eyes in the morning without having a satisfying prospect of the day ahead, without having excitement awaiting them in their actions, without the sense of achievement and without feelings of enthusiasm to get up at all.

The Voice of Depression

They will be going through a internal conversation inside their minds, which will be similar to this one:

1st voice: “I should get up.” 2nd voice: “What for? There is no point anyway. Today is just the same as yesterday. Not much to look forward. Best stay here and escape the reality by dreaming about something else. 1st voice: “True, I feel tired just thinking about living another day.”

Reason to Live

Now, getting into this black hole of thoughts is almost like entering a one way road. It may be very difficult to achieve changes of their mind, unless this person has a very strong underlying reason to live or they have people around them, for example children, who care about them and are able to bring their attention back to the enjoyment of living life.

Back to Nature

When someone you know is going through chronic depression and their life seems to be too hard and difficult to live, it may be of help if you kindly get them out to the sun and into nature. The connection with the world outside of their mind, especially connecting with the lives of animals and plants, where they have a chance to observe them in their daily activities can bring back the sense of life purpose and life simple pleasures.

Prevent Depression Before It Sets In

The prevention from getting into this type of depression in the first place, in my experience and personal opinion, is to design big long-term life goals. Those goals need to be fairly large and seem to be hard to achieve, but not be totally impossible. When we set our goals, they must be appealing for us to want to go and achieve them.

Hana Rubinstejnova writes articles to give us and opportunity to reflect back on our lives. To take a moment from our busy days and bring to our awareness our internal values, beliefs and dreams that design our lives. Having been through many life learning’s and experiences herself and holding Certification in several modalities (NLP, Nutrition, Psychosomatic Therapy & Face Reading) Hana lives to empower and inspire people to reclaim responsibilities and rewards which come from living a purposeful life.

By massaging your friend or living partner and let him or her do the same to you, you will both get emotionally closer to each other, and both get several health benefits. Massaging will benefit the mental state of the person you work on, the muscular condition, the blood circulation and the lymph drainage. However, what you want to achieve, will determine the exact technique you use.

MASSAGING ACROSS THE MUSCLE FIBRES

This type of massage is very good for relaxing tense muscles and a stressed mind.

You perform this massage by rubbing or gripping across the direction of the muscle fibres or across tendons. You take one area after the other. You begin by massaging each area lightly, superficially and slowly to warm up, and then proceed by massaging deeper, firmer and more swiftly.

According to the size and conditions of the area you treat, you can use different types of manipulation. You can use a couple of fingers at a small area, or to reach deep into a tense point. You can rub with all your finger tips or with the palm of your hand at greater areas. To get a harder effect, you can use your finger knuckles.

MASSAGE ALONG THE MUSCLE FIBRES

This type of massage will give the following effects: Stiffness will be reduced or cured, and the muscles will gain in mobility. The muscles will get better blood supply and drainage. The muscles will get a better drainage of tissue fluids into the lymph system, and thereby swollen muscles will normalize. These effects will in turn make tired muscles faster regain good condition.

By this massage you stroke along the direction of the muscle fibres, and always in the direction of the blood stream towards the heart.

Also now you take one area after the other, but try to reach the whole length of a muscle or muscle group at each stroke. Also by this massage, you begin massaging at each area lightly, superficially and slowly to warm up, and then proceed by massaging deeper, firmer and somewhat faster.

Also by this longitudinal massage, you can press down and stroke with your finger tips, with all your fingers, or grip around a muscle or muscle group with your fingers.

MASSAGE WITH AN ELECTRIC MASSAGER

Most electric massage devices are vibrating up and down. This vibration mostly gives the same effect as the massage across the muscle fibres. If you also stroke with the device head along the muscle in the direction of the blood stream towards the heart, you will simultaneously also achieve the effects of longitudinal massage.

COMBINING THE MASSAGE WITH STRETCHING

The effects of the massage can be increased by also stretching the limbs and body parts of the person you work on. Stretch in the natural movement directions of the limb or body parts until you reach some resistance. Do not stretch hard to go beyond the resistance point. However, by holding the limb some time at the resistance point will often cause the limb to relax, and then you can go some way further.

HOW HARD SHOULD YOU PERFORM THE MASSAGE?

Tired and stiff muscles are often tender and aching. Working at a tender point will always cause some temporal pain. However, if you use the right degree of firmness, the effect of the massage should cause an immediate release of pain and tenderness when you have finished working at a point. You should never work so hard that the pain is felt nearly unbearable, or so hard that pain remains after the massage is finished. If you do so, you can hurt or aggravate already existing tissue damage.

To achieve the right firmness you should monitor the reactions of the person you work at and listen to his comments. You should also never perform a massage on an area with a distinct inflammation or a distinct injury.

USE OF MASSAGE OILS

By applying a massage oil or ointment at the area you work at, you ease the massage work and increase the effects of the massage. Your fingers glide more easily upon the skin covering the area. The blood supply of the skin and muscles will be stimulated. You get a sensual and exciting scent on the area and in the air. Ingredients in the oil will ameliorate muscular ache and pain. According to the composition of the massage oil, there will be different stimulating effects upon the muscles, for example faster regeneration of tired or hurt muscle tissue.

MASSAGING FOR MUTUAL JOY AND PLEASURE

You can use each of the two main techniques, but you let the pleasure of the person you massage decide the technique, the area you massage and the firmness of the massage. Usually gently touching and caressing will be the right manner.

Also your own pleasure shall decide. Do not work so hard that you get tired out yourself, and the person that you give the massage should be willing to repay you by doing the same favour to you.

How do feelings become suppressed?

Feelings become suppressed when we feel restricted in some way in expressing them. To understand the full extent of our emotions is material for a whole book. Some researchers state that: ‘We are emotional beings‘. There are many areas of our lives when we feel particular emotions coming up. Let’s just talk about the suppression of these unwanted emotions.

Sadness, joy, happiness, frustration, anger, grief, etc. Each one of these words has a power to create a feeling in our body even as we only read them aloud in our minds.

The feeling that we feel when we are sad or grieving has a natural need to be expressed appropriately. This expression of the feeling allows its natural exit from our mind and body. Whereas when we feel threatened or embarrassed to naturally express our internal emotions they are forced to stay inside our body.

Emotional Packaging

Now, these feelings trapped in our body need to be kept under control somehow, otherwise we would be constantly feeling them. Naturally, our body is magical and very cleverly designed so this has been prearranged.

The best way to package these emotions, so they can be stored in a safe place where they will cause the least damage, could be called ‘fattening‘. The protecting material here is a body fat. And the best place for their storage away from life sustaining organs such as heart and lungs is around abdomen and thighs.

Sometimes there are too many suppressed emotional issues that need to be stored and kept under control. That’s when the areas of fatty tissues gets expanded and more places utilized for this distribution of unwanted ‘emotionally charged matter’, leading to further problems associated with an overweight body.

Trigger points and Letting Go

Now, with these emotions nicely ‘handled’ inside, a few years later, you are enjoying a relaxing massage or driving a car listening to music on the radio, when suddenly out of nowhere comes this long forgotten feeling.

What to do when they come up?

1) In the first scenario, you will be quick to push it back inside, out of your awareness and maybe later on you’ll even have some nice sweet or fattening snack to make sure that unsettling feelings stay deep down in their place.

2) In the second scenario you become fully aware of the feelings that so suddenly came up in your awareness and allow yourself to ‘soak in it’, to feel it’s full charge (if you are driving stop the car when it’s safe to do so). Depending on the extent of this feeling and it’s association with a past event you may feel the need to cry or to express it some other way. Now, the key is to give in to that emotion and feel it. Feeling what you were supposed to feel when the event happened will give you an opportunity to let that emotional burden go and free yourself from further issues associated with that suppressed feeling.

Signs of suppressed emotions

Are you currently overweight and can’t find a reason why?

Are you having regular conflicts with people around you, trying to remember afterwards what it was all about and why you got involved?

Are you feeling frustrated about your life and people you have to deal with?

If so, you will want to bring your awareness to these situations. Next time, when you find yourself just before such an event occurring, you will have an awareness that it is your emotional ‘package’ what affects your behavior in that particular situation, not necessarily the people or circumstances around you.

Hana Rubinstejnova writes articles to give us and opportunity to reflect back on our lives.
